Did Bush fire some of the worst "profilers"?

Submitted by Pat on Wed, 03/14/2007 - 1:34pm

Comparing the list of removed U.S. Attorneys with the bogus study on "political profiling" reveals that Attorney General Gonzales may have removed some of the worst offenders, the very U.S. Attorneys that Professors Shields and Cragan believe are most biased against Democrats.

Researching my earlier post today, I broke down their data by state. The top 3 worst offenders, the 3 states with the largest ratio of Democrat investigations to Republican investigations, based on their flawed data collection, were Maryland, Michigan, and Nevada, with California weighing in at 14th place. The removed U.S. Attorneys, shown with their state's Shields and Cragan bias ratio, are from: Michigan (18 to 1), Nevada (13 to 1), California (6.6 to 1), Arkansas (2 to 1), New Mexico (1 to 0), Washington (0 to 0 to 3 Inds), and Arizona (-2 GOP to 0 Dems).

There you have it, folks. The Bush Administration removed three of the U.S. Attorneys most biased against Democrats. What an awful bunch of partisans.

I am of course being tongue-in-cheek here. As I've amply demonstrated, the Shields and Cragan study is worthless. Perhaps this bit of snark will help some folks realize just how worthless it is.

By the way, I am well aware that there are several judicial districts within most states, each with their own U.S. Attorney. The prosecutors removed in California, Michigan, Nevada, and the other states could be the unbiased ones going after Republicanss while Republithugs in other districts in the state are persecuting all the Democrats. But I doubt it.

As a technical note, the bias ratio shown for each state above is the ratio of Democrat to Republican investigations of elected officials at all levels of government, federal, state, and local.

OMG

I just have to emphaisze your tongue-in-cheekity by pointing out you're doing a Krugman by using that bad data.....

Well...

Well, Tully, fighting bad data with accurate data wasn't getting me very far. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right?

One would hope that the study defenders would now stop in their tracks, realizing that the study may not help them, and start looking for ways to undermine it. Instead, I have little doubt that they will holler that as biased as these prosecutors were against Democrats (I'm again being tongue-in-cheek), they were canned for not being EVEN MORE biased.

Well if you're going to take

Well if you're going to take THAT approach, just make up your own! It would be just as legit as the study in question.

Nice display of True Believerism over there at ObWi. Reminds me why I often read but almost never comment. Seems to surprise some that I actually DO read some of the more literate leftie blogs, the ones with reasonably intelligent posters and commenters.

Nah, it's like JuJitsu

You use your opponent's strengths (manufacturing bad data) against them. As Wikipedia puts it, you

yield to the force provided by an opponent's attack in order to apply counter techniques from the resultant ensuing situation.
