Thanks to the very loyal readers that put up with our inane drunk/live blogging of the primary races last night. We were hardly the most comprehensive, or the most read, blog last night, but we had the most fun!
Now, I'd like your input on how best to give away free stuff to you! Courtesy of Rhino Entertainment, we've obtained a free review copy of the upcoming DVD concert release of: From the Big Apple to the Big Easy: The Concert for New Orleans. We'll be giving this away, free, to one of our registered users. To decide who gets this incredible collection of music, we'll have to have a contest. But what kind of contest? I'm leaning towards a writing contest of some kind, say the most moving comment posted about the disaster or something like that. Or perhaps we should sponsor a blog carnival on the impact of the hurricane and the humanitarian and political response to it, and give it away to the best blog post on the subject. Ooh, I like that one. The one year anniversary date (Aug. 29) is approaching soon and mostly coincides with the release of the DVD (which is on Aug. 22).
At any rate, kindly provide suggestions for the contest in the comments. This is a great prize to give away, folks. It's got the Neville Brothers, Irma Thomas, Elton John, Dan Fogerty, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Buffet, Dave Bartholomew, Elvis Costello, even Simon & Garfunkel! Net proceeds from the concert and the DVD sales go to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and other charities helping the victims of this immense disaster. As a teaser, below the fold there's a little sample of what to expect, Irma Thomas performing Time Is on My Side. We'll have more teasers later, as the contest proceeds and the release date gets closer.
