That was fast!

Apparently, the mere election of Democrats improved conditions in Afghanistan overnight. USA Today reports: Poll: Afghans express confidence in country's direction, security. A month ago, USA Today's focus was on Mistakes Made in Afghanistan. Amazing the difference an election can make, eh?

Somehow, I suspect that had Republicans won the election, the USA Today story would have been much more like the Pakistan Daily Times' story on the very same poll: Afghan optimism falls sharply, poll shows. Unlike the USA Today story, the Daily Times focused on the trend in Afghanistan's opinion:

Optimism among Afghans about the nation’s direction has dropped sharply to 44 percent - down 20 percent in two years, a survey released Thursday showed.

This is how media bias shows up. Few people make things up whole cloth; it's all in which facts you choose to emphasize, how you choose to frame the issue.
