Whatever
Joe Biden says that “[t]he President has no authority to unilaterally attack Iran and if he does, as [Senate] foreign relations committee chairman, I will move to impeach ... [and i]f you’re going to impeach George Bush, you better impeach Cheney first.” So many potential angles for snark that it's hard to choose. Let's start with this one: Better win election to the House of Representatives first, Joe, because unless you're a member of that body, you have about as much authority to "move to impeach" as the editors of this blog do. Look, I know you're embarassingly undereducated on what the Constitution actually says, Joe, but you've got to know that Robert Bork is ROTFL every time you come out with one of these goofs. It's not a long document, and since you swore an oath to support and defend it, perhaps you ought to have in your memory the rough outline of its provisions, particuarly with regards to the prerogatives of the House vs. the Senate.
Unless of course, Biden has so much sway with the House
leadership, that impeachment proceedings could begin merely on his say so. In other words, if Biden wills impeachment to happen, all he'd have to do is send a memo to the House, and BAM, it's on. :)
Makes you wonder though, if Sen. Biden has so much rhetoric power, his talents are wholly wasted in the Senate. :)
FWIW, I count myself as a Biden fan.

I actually kind of like old
I actually kind of like old Xerox Joe myself. He's old school.
second that emotion
Once again, great minds think alike. I've always liked Ol' School Joe myself.
You kind of have to like him...
Despite his terminal (to ambitions for higher office) case of foot-in-mouth disease, you've got to like
Neal KinnockJoe Biden. He's pretty sane on foreign policy, and he's got this odd earnestness about him which is strangely compelling.LOL on the Neal Kinnock
LOL on the Neal Kinnock strike-out. Clever. But you're right, he does have earnestness and integrity that are compelling- but apparently not compelling enough for Dem primary voters.
He just has a since of maturity about him that I respect, and
he is definitely pretty sane, foreign policy wise. I have serious issues with his out-of-Iraq plan, but he seems to be the only one who actually took the time to come up with one, that isn't just a "troops home now" plan. He basically wants to pull them out early, which is bad, but if God forbid the surge doesn't do what we want it do, then at least Biden has something of a Plan B.
The thing is, Plan A is working, and we shouldn't be pulling the plug.

There's something endearing
There's something endearing about Joe's frantic emotionalism. No doubt, some of his policy positions are questionable. But I'd take his judgment in a minute over Dick One-Percent Cheney's.
Indeed.

I'm mixed about Joe
I supported much he had to say a few years ago and he does have a certain charm absent from most representitives. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks, but I do have some real problems.
He has said for years that our missile defense promotes the missile race, but Iran, NK and others including China are hardly driven by our missile defense programs.
He claims he knows best what's going on in Pakistan and compares the situation to Iran in 1979. Really? Loose nukes are the biggest Pakistan short-term problem? Does he know if US military are in Pakistan watching those nukes? Is his position sounder than the administration's? He let Dodd explain to Richardson that Islamists in Pakistan number more than 15%. He let Hillary explain that national security trumps human rights.
His partition plan failed to account for Turkish sentiment and the dynamics of AQ.
His NK postion has been all over the place.
Did he think Gaddafi's irrigation tunnels were WMD facilities?
His Iranian "solution" is what as he warns the administration?
I ask who has the better score card, the administration or Biden's proposals? Was China's ASAT test our fault? Solutions for Darfur, Somalia, Lebanon?
Last, Simon seems to have some grounds to question the credentials Joe sports about his judicial knowledge.
His gaffs are legendary.
So while I have always liked Biden, I must say that I have reservations about his judgement, tact and a number of his proposals.
