Senater Tim Johnson (D-SD) has been taken to the hospital after apparently suffering a stroke.

Political considerations aside, Tim Johnson is a good and decent man and a refreshingly straightforward Senator, and we wish him a complete and speedy recovery.

Indeed. Praying that he's well.

Needless to say, it's beyond politics now.

"In the world you will find tribulation, be be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world."

John 16:33

Well, it may be beyond

Well, it may be beyond politics for us, but the sharks are already circling on The Hill and in the 'sphere. The debate over a replacement appointment is already in full swing, with some folks noting SD 12-11-1 without managing to read far enough down the list to find SD 12-11-6.

I think it's all quite a bit premature. Johnson will likely do well, and he's in good hands.

Update on Sen. Johnson

He suffered bleeding in the brain caused by a "congenital arteriovenous malformation", according to this report. The surgery was "successful", but it's too early to tell what, if any, significant long-term effects it will cause.

He and his family remain in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery.
